About me

I am Andy, an experienced BACP accredited integrative counsellor. I am based in Chester offering face to face sessions and I also work remotely.

Since qualifying as a counsellor, I have accumulated many years of experience working in the NHS, Barnardo’s, private practice and local counselling charities. Currently, I also serve as a director and co-run therapeutic intensive retreats with Therapeutic Journeys. Previously, I served for 30 years as an operational firefighter.

What are my areas of specialism?

Working with you from where you are right now we will explore, in a safe and collaborative way, what has brought you to counselling. As an experienced integrative and trauma informed counsellor, I can help guide our work using the most appropriate therapeutic approaches to help bring an understanding and clarity to your situation. This can be a first step in empowering you to make the changes to move forward with your life.  My approaches take into account an understanding that the mind and body are connected and what has happened to you in the past may be impacting how you engage in life in the present moment.

I work with adults and young people (aged 16 years and over) encountering anxiety, stress, depression, trauma and workplace burnout. I have experience working with clients who are, or suspect that they could be, neurodivergent.

How much will a session cost?

Sessions are £50 per therapeutic hour, and scheduled at intervals appropriate for you. The number of sessions will be determined collaboratively taking into account my assessment, your requirements and progress.

What happens if you contact me for help?

I will welcome you and offer you a no obligation initial 30 minute session to see whether you feel I may be the right counsellor for you.
